She then worked as a fellow in gynaecology under the guidance of Dr. Sasikala Kola, an eminent gynaecologist in Hyderabad, and as a registrar in the Obstetrics unit at Fernandez Hospital, Hyderabad for a year. She is trained in ultrasound from Mediscan systems, Chennai, and in Laparoscopy with Dr. Narasaiah.

Her interest in reconstructive pelvic surgery motivated her to join subspecialty in Urogynaecology under the able guidance of Dr. Rajamaheswari N at the Department of Urogynaecology, Kasturba Gandhi Hospital, Chennai, MGR University of Health Sciences.

There she had the privilege of training with some eminent internationally renowned surgeons in the field of Urogynaecology such as Prof. Bobby Schull, Prof. Ajay Rane. Dr. Usha is proficient in vaginal surgeries for prolapse correction and surgeries for stress incontinence.

Dr. Usha's main clinical interest is in the field of emergency gynaecology and high-risk obstetrics. Her special interests are gynaecology ultrasound (including 3D gynaecology scanning), early pregnancy problems (including recurrent and late miscarriages, poor obstetric history, ectopic pregnancies), one-stop gynaecology clinics, particularly for pelvic pain and irregular/heavy vaginal bleeding and Urogynaecology.

Having amassed considerable knowledge and experience over the last 15 years with surgical and non-surgical modern treatment options, she is able to provide focused treatment designed around the personal and medical needs of her patients. Dr. Usha enjoys the diagnostic process, listening to patients, establishing good rapport, and discussing all available options while overseeing their clinical treatment from first consultation to final recovery.

She is a visiting Consultant at Pinnacle Hospital and runs her own clinic by the name Isha Clinic at Visalakshinagar.
